...open house went well. i had 3 of my 11 students and their parents come. one girl was indian, one chinese and one korean. they were sweet and terribly cute.
...then we got stuck in a monsoon/typhoon trying to get a taxi to get home. we were drenched, and it was dark because of the storm, and i was standing in the road waving taxis down like a crazy person. i finally got one to stop when i stepped into his lane and basically made him pull over for us.
...oh, i forgot to mention when i was running this morning, that i was being stared at differently than normal. i mean, not in a different way, but in excess. normally, we get stares here and there. this morning it was every person i passed, every car and bike that passed were breaking their necks to turn around and see the tall, slightly chunky, white girl running. it was strange. i almost laughed a few times. you know those computer generated arrows that football commentators use when showing playbacks or explaining a play on their tv screen. well, i kept envisioning myself with a huge, 10 story high, orange arrow over my head as i was running, because no matter how far across the huge intersection or square these people were, they somehow saw me running across the street, and they all stopped to look. i don't know if you are understanding how strange it was. it was like something was wrong with me, like maybe i forgot to put an article of clothing on, or i had two heads, i don't know what it was, but it made me smile, and made my run much more amusing than it would have been had i been in the states.
...also, on a more serious note, i have had a couple friends say i might want to be a little more careful with my communication on this and other things like email and such, so i don't know...think about that, if you will.
peace.
I enjoyed this...it made me smile :)

ReplyDeleteHi Shayna
ReplyDeleteYour writings amuse me, love them. Pray for you all the time. I asked your mom to make me a scarf like the one in one of your pics. So cute! I know Bridge would love it. Took her to college yesterday. All went so well. Her dorm is so cute. I have pics on my facebook if you want to see. God is so good.
Love you much
