week one debrief

yesterday  my kids performed the first verse and chorus of "america the beautiful" for the entire school in assembly. it was so wonderful. so amazing to see how quickly they soak things up. we're learning about america in social studies, and they love it! and they love singing that song. it's so cute to hear them pronounce all those big words with their sweet little accents. i was so proud of them.

so, one week down. it was good. i also did the older kids music class yesterday and it went well. we sang "He's got the whole world" and split up and did harmony. i think they have the potential of being good, because some of them were hearing the harmony part and able to stay on it while the others were singing the melody. that was fun as well.

i am going to get a bike today so i can start riding to and from school and save money on all the taxis i've been taking. i'm really excited about a bicycle.

i am still borrowing my roommates computer. ps-i decided to live with the girl i've been staying with since i got here. so, i am not living with a chinese girl. i'm living with a foreigner who fluently speaks chinese. and i'm using her computer all the time, so that's why i haven't put up any pics or done any videos, but i am going to ask her if i can make my own little file so i can put some pictures up for you guys to see, and maybe a video introducing you to the foreigners i work and spend time with here.

lastly, i looked out over my class the other day and noticed that about 4 of the little girls had their pencils behind their ears and two had them stuck back in their ponytails, which are the two places i keep mine....
it was adorable.
